· Cover page: -1 for each missing element · Table of contents: -1 for each missing element (poem titles, quotation marks, page numbers) · Preface: graded on completeness and coherence, points deducted for errors in grammar, spelling and lack of focus or clarity · “What is Poetry”: graded on completeness, use of two quotations effectively, and coherence. Points deducted for errors in grammar, spelling and lack of focus · Published poems: -1 or .5 for any missing elements (poem formatting, color graphic, author name, explanation of thematic tie), and spelling errors · Biographies: No sources cited=ZERO. -2 for incorrect citations. Score relative to Spelling and grammar, completeness and coherence, two sources used. · Criticism: 1/3 of grade for each: poetic elements (both structural and sound elements) identified and explained, levels of meaning explored, grammar/structure and spelling · Original Poems: -1 for each element missing (form of poem labeled, title, graphic, your name, form of poem defined, up to -2 for not adhering to the form, and if eight forms are not represented, zeroes were assigned to the poems that make up the difference) · Art work: -1 for each of less than 8 of museum pieces, -.5 for incorrect citation under museum pieces. · Creative reflection: holistic grade based on completeness, insight, attention to the Theodore Roethke’s quote, spelling, grammar, and coherence. Points deducted for a retelling of all the steps taken (i.e. simply restating journal entries) or ignoring the quote. · Source Page, Works Cited, and Graphic Sources pages: points deducted based on deviance from MLA format standards (including order of entries and contents of those entries). Please refer to the MLA handout from the library (or on the web) and the half sheets. · Overall Quality: A holistic grade based on organization and attention to details. Points deducted for disorganization, quantity of typos, poor graphic quality, completeness and overall appearance. · Source folder: while not added into your score, the lack of organization in your source folder or an incomplete source folder will affect your grade. No sources in your folder at all (or no folder) will result in -20 from your total point value. Lack of organization, lack of half-sheets, or a bunch of extra stuff will all result in deductions. · Lateness: if your portfolio is late, 10% of your total earned points will be subtracted per day late, up to 5 school days (50%). After that, you’ve earned a ZERO. Absences do not extend deadlines nor do they negate late penalties. |
