February 5, 2009
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the recent arrest of a Red Creek Central School District staff member that was brought to my attention by law enforcement. The individual worked as a middle school office monitor and coach. She was arrested on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office for one count sexual abuse, second degree, and one count endangering the welfare of a child. As a school district, we see this as an extremely serious matter and have taken swift and immediate action to ensure the safety of our students. Student safety is our first priority.
Yesterday, the individual who was arrested resigned from her position and no longer has access to the Red Creek Central School District campus. We are working in partnership with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department and New York State Police and will keep you informed of important developments in the case that can be shared.
Please know that we understand that this situation is extremely serious and concerning for parents and families. As a school district, we share your concerns and will do everything we can to help our students, staff, and the community move through this difficult situation.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at my office at 315-754-2010, or a building principal, if you have further questions or information to share. I will do my very best to answer and address your concerns. Because this is a legal case and a personnel matter, I am prohibited by law from discussing many of the details. I thank you in advance for your understanding.
Very truly yours,
RED CREEK CENTRAL SCHOOL
