This site offers parents and caregivers activities and resources to help their children excel in school. It is provided by Houghton-Mifflin, which is the Core Reading Program used in our school district.

                          Book Adventure
                         (Houghton-Mifflin)

This site is a FREE reading motivation program for children in grades K-8. Children create their own book lists from over 6,000 recommended titles, take multiple choice quizzes on the books they've read offline, and earn points and prizes for their literary successes. It is recommended in the Houghton-Mifflin Core Reading program.       

                       Starfall for Parents

This site will provide an enormous amount of information related to learning about reading and how you can help your child.

        Council for Exceptional Children
Parents have a strong influence on their child's reading skills. Reading just a few minutes a day makes a big difference in a child's reading readiness skills. This site suggests ways for parents to develop skills that children need to become good readers.
 

     Helping Your Child Become a Reader
From the U.S. Department of Education, this booklet includes activities for children from infancy through age 6. Most of the activities make learning experiences out of the everyday routines. The activities are designed to be fun for both you and your children as you help them to gain the skills they need to become readers. Enjoy!
